Sitting for a long time can cause discomfort in the lower back. It’s important to notice that this position also reduces blood circulation in the legs, which may result in swelling, blood clots (deep vein thrombosis), and potentially contribute to cardiovascular issues over time.
Similarly, prolonged standing can negatively affect different parts of the body. Working in a standing posture for an extended period places the entire body weight on the lower extremities. This can result in static loading the knee joints and especially the feet, leading to discomfort and fatigue. Continued exposure to such working conditions may increase the risk of injury, including the possibility of ischemia*
ischemia*- a lack of blood supply in an organ or tissue, that may result in necrosis
It's important to be mindful of your posture and take steps to maintain good posture to mitigate these potential health risks.
How to change it?
take a few minutes every hour to take a short walk around the room
do “calf raises” by contracting the muscles
This pumping action, often referred to as the calf muscle pump, aids in venous return, which means it assists in returning deoxygenated blood from the legs back to the heart for oxygenation.
invest in comfortable shoes, avoid high heels or flat shoes that provide little cushioning and support
take regular breaks to change the position of the body.
Every 30 to 60 minutes you can sit down or take a walk to relieve the pressure on lower extremities. If you can’t do it, shift your weight from one leg to the other or rock back and forth on your feet.

It's important to be mindful of your posture and take steps to maintain good posture to mitigate these potential health risks.
